If you want to nominate yourself in the upcoming elections, this is the place. There will initially be two slots. The list of candidates so far: Angela Merkel, Gerd von Rundstedt, Loki Odinson. Also guys, we'll need to determine the format. For example, open ballot or poll? Should there be only one ballot, or seperate ballots for each slot?

Once we start to advertise the forum and it becomes publicly visible for all, there's gonna be lots of spam accounts and the like.

Closed ballot, on Google Forms, with a box to put in your username. That username will have to make a post in this thread confirming that they voted.

Alrighty guys, there's some other stuff we should decide:
1. When should the elections be held?
2. How long should these mods moderate? Temporary mods to uphold the rules while we get more members in, or standard moderators?
3. Let's assume we're way past this, that we've officially completed the formation of this forum. Afterwards, how long should a moderator term be? 3/4 months? Until they resign? Or something else?
What do y'all think?

1. The fourth works for me as a starting point. Let it go on for like, three days.
2. Permanently. There's no reason to not. We trust everyone.
3. Same answer, although of course resignations ought to be allowed.

Lastly, which format would you prefer, the one Loki or Merkel suggested, or something entirely different?

Moderators should serve with six month terms, and be subject to permanent recall -- if any three people at one time object to a moderator's conduct, they should be subject to a snap election.

I think Merkal makes a good point about being able to remove mods, but at the same time I think they should be permanent unless voted out. Open ballot could create tension between members, so I suggest a closed ballot with only one slot, compared to the two seperate ballots

Alrighty then, unless janttumunmo has an objection, the elections shall be held at the 4th of this month, like Gerd suggested, and it'll use the IRV method with closed ballot like Merkel suggested. The terms shall be permanent but a majority of members can recall them at any time like again Merkel and Warlord suggested, and they can resign as well, obviously.

I would say that a 2/3 majority would be needed. Just because half of the forum decide to go mad shouldn't lead in a mod being ejected.

Alright everybody, unless we have an eleventh hour nomination, the election starts now. You have 48 hours to cast your votes, which can be prolonged if not everybody sees it in time, and can also be finished earlier upon demand if everybody has already casted them. For the candidates: due to the limits of this system, your first vote must go to yourself. Here is the link of the form: forms.gle/7VnN2VGG8iAYehUo7Good luck to all candidates! warlord247, janttumunmo, Angela Merkel, Gerd von Rundstedt, Loki Odinson
